Either my heart has stopped beating - or my very dated HRM has given up the ghost.

So suggestions invited on features I should be looking for when I replace the old one (HRM that is), and recommendations on make/model to purchase or avoid.

Thanks

Rob

I've only ever used Polar HRM's so far, so can't comment on other makes, but the Polar seems to work well for the HRM functions. If you want a HRM that also combines with a speed and/or cadence sensor then I have found the Polar ones to be very tempermental, slightest gust of wind and the speed stops working!
I think I read that Ken has a Garmin HRM that is very clever.
Depends on what you want function wise and what your budget is I guess.

Hi Rob,

depends on how much you want to spend. Before I got the Polar one that I use now, I had a dhb one from wiggle. Cost approx £30, and did the job nicely.

Cheers,

Thanks lads - so what functions do you suggest I go for? My dead one only showed heart rate. I thought Hi & Lo alarms would be worthwhile, but other than that not so sure what else would be useful.

Sort of reminds me of the VCR we had - could do loads of things, most of which we never used and many of which we had to get the 5 year old kid from next door to set up for us!

Hi Rob, high, low, and average should do the job!

Cheers,
